The French Meeting Industry Council (Union Française des Métiers de l’Événement, Unimev) is the professional association which represents organizers of fairs, exhibitions, congresses and events, managers of hospitality services, and dedicated service providers in France. The Council has more than 300 members.
Unimev represents almost 90% of business in the sector, including the biggest names in event organization, hospitality and service provision.
A tool for local development and the expression of competition against a background of standardization of distribution channels, the fairs, exhibitions, congresses and events sector in France continues to grow and become more professional. Thanks to this infrastructure, the French Meeting Industry Council offers effective platforms for the national and international development of companies, and training for their staff. These events contribute to France’s influence in the world.
Unimev has set itself three priority tasks
- to encourage the development of the sector
- to promote the sector as a whole
- to develop services appropriate to the needs of its members
The Council’s members elect representatives to the Management Board which defines the strategic directions for the sector. The President of the Board is elected every three years. In June 2007, Thierry HESSE, President and CEO of AMC Promotion and General Organizer of the Paris Motor Show took over the presidency. He was unanimously re-elected for a second term in 2010.
